Brenan’s Trails from Yegen (The Alpujarra)
Route:
The English writer Gerald Brenan was perhaps Andalusia’s last romantic traveller, and “South from Granada” is one of his best-known works.
It deals with the landscapes and way of life in and around the Alpujarra village that was his home: Yegen. In the spirit of the writer, and with the unmistakable backdrop of one of the region’s most emblematic villages, you will make a thoroughly active walking holiday visit to this part of the Alpujarra.
About Yegen: Located in the Southeast side of Sierra Nevada, under the Alto de San Juan (2786 m.) and bordered by the Mecina and Valor rivers, Yegen is a high (1000 m.) but, at the same time, temperate town. Between the Granada and Almería's Alpujarras, but provided with stunning views that let us see the sea in the distance, hidden by the Sierra de la Contraviesa. You will live in Yegen two or three days, in harmony with its landscape, its people and the paths of the Alpujarra.
