A magical valley forgotten by time… Discover the hiking trails of the Nieves Mountains Nature Reserve and the Genal Valley, its ancient Spanish fir and chestnut forests, and a botanical gem known as the gall-oak… Look out over the Costa del Sol, Africa and “El Peñon” (Gibraltar).

You will discover its paths, scouring centenarian Spanish fir forests until you find "el quejido de la montaña". You will enjoy an unique view of the Costa del Sol, Africa and the Rock of Gibraltar.
On the second day you will visit a valley forgotten by the men, where the people of the Valle del Geniales will show you how, 100 years ago, they used to carry water in their mules to take it to the country houses. A colorful mosaic changing every season.

The Spanish Fir Forest is an endemic fir tree on the South of Spain.
This route will let you know one of the best preserved Spanish fir forests in this area, as well as know the mountain gall-oak grove, a magnificent botanical treasure.
Second day: Through the high Genal Valley. Duration: 3-4 hours
Difficulty: Intermediate (adaptable) Distance: 10 Km. Drop: +400
Some of the attractions are walking Ander a centenary chestnut forest, discovering small fields (cultivated in a tradicional way), crossing small cristaline streams... A magical route that will make you go back in time.
