Umber Casita View from the private terraces

Francesca's Vineyard's is a traditional mountain finca in the Montes de Malaga. Renovated into 3 self catering casitas the finca is let as a whole sleeping 9 or Ochre sleeps 2, Sienna sleeps 3 and Umber sleeps 4. The setting and location is ideal for summer and winter use. Stop completely by the pool in peace and quiet in the heat of summer, explore Moorish and Roman towns and white villages, walk in forests and mountains or through almond groves. The setting is rural Andalucia - peaceful and traditional. A wonderful location and property for a large family/friends group or a secluded romantic getaway for a couple. Stay a while and wish you had stayed longer. The tranquil location takes a lot of beating yet it is only minutes from the village with it traditional bars and restaurants and only 30 minutes from the coastal beaches, water parks and diving and less than 2 hours from the ski-ing in the Sierra Navada. The mountains are spectacular in April and May with the wild flowers out. In August I have seen Eagles, Hoopoes, Buzzards, Bee Eaters, Vultures, Flamingos, Cross Bills, and Parrots - and many other birds. Buzzards have swooped down to the pool to drink with guests sitting next to it, an eagle tried to land in a bush next to Sienna but it fell out as it was too heavy and a wild boar jumped in front of a guests car a few metres from the Finca. Locals still ride their mules and use them for ploughing their fields and threshing corn, a local goatherd walks his goats past the finca and neighbours gather my grapes and make them into wine each September.

Accommodation
BedroomsFrancesca's Finca is divided into 3 self-catering casitas. Each has it's own private terrace with wonderful views over the valley and mountains. Each Casita has a fully equipped kitchen with 2-ring cooker, fridge, microwave and plenty of crockery and utensils. There are cool bags and ice packs for summer, unbreakable picnic gear for poolside and picnics and BBQ tools. A washing machine is in the utility room next to Sienna casita, along with iron and board. Each salon has a woodburning stove and every winter I supply free logs (all electricity is free). There are sofas, dining tables and chairs, rugs for winter (the tiled floors are cold so bring indoor shoes or slippers), lamps, TV with UK Sky, games, books etc. All bedrooms have radiators, duvets and electric blankets for winter and fans for summer. On each private terrace there are canvas director chairs, dining table and chairs, gas BBQ (free Gas) and a hammock. The pool is set in the vineyard and there is a wide sun terrace with shade areas, sun lounges and games. Guests are asked to pick the fruit in the vineyard and around the house as it ripens; at different times of the year there are grapes (of course being a vineyard!) pomegranates, plums, figs, pears, oranges and perhaps lemons (baby tree)
BathroomsOchre Casita Sleeps 2 in a double bedroom. This is an upside down casita with the bedroom downstairs as the property is built on a hillside. The high ceiling salon/kitchen has a dining area and French doors leading out onto the terrace. When I first viewed the property in 2000 Francesca’s kept a chicken (with nest) in the bathroom and she was making candles at the table in front of the fire.
KitchenSienna Casita Sleeps 4 in a double bedroom and single bedroom. The single bedroom is in the old hayloft. The walls in this casita are very thick and uneven as it was the old stables, the ceilings are high and there is a gecko living in the beams. The kitchen/dining room door opens on to the terrace.
Living roomsUmber Casita sleeps 4 in a double bedroom and twin bedroom. This was the store for the huge wine barrels and wine making equipment - sorry you don't get samples of the vineyards wine, the locals still make it every September using a mule with panniers to bring the grapes down from the hillside and I get just two bottles as "rent". The salon/dining room has French doors that open onto the terrace.
Cleaning/towels/linen/maid serviceAll linen included. Towels and linen changed weekly.

Lakes, beaches, forest and mountains are within 30 minutes driving. Of course you could ski in the Sierra Navada, or eat tappas drinking ice-cold sherry and people watch in a mountain village, climb a mountain, try hang-gliding, explore caves, go horse riding so much to do so little time..........
