On the crest of a ridge that runs south from the village of Colmenar, Casa de Luz has superb views of the mountain-top town of Comares across the valley on one side and, on the other, over the olive, almond and orange groves of Axarquia far below to the Sierra deTejeda beyond. Wholly rural, but within an hour of Malaga airport, it is well placed for day trips to Cordoba, Granada, Ronda, Antequera, and many other smaller historic towns. It is also a good base for walking and bird watching, either from the house, in the nearby Montes de Malaga, in the strange limestone outcrops of the Torcal, or further afield in the sierras. It enjoys the milder climate of Axarquia, and being on a ridge has, in high summer, a blessed midday breeze. The Casa is an old farmhouse with many original features; beamed ceilings, typical old fireplace, unusual double doors, etc. It is luxuriously furnished, and spacious. A large patio on on one side and a terrace on the other give plenty of space to eat and live outside. The 8m by 4m pool has its own terrace. Like many older houses it has many steps, and they are quite steep; not suitable for young children or the disabled.
